Welcome to Ralph's World represents indie-minded musical magician Ralph Covert's leap to the bigs--the bigs, in the kids' game, meaning Disney. Worry not, though, Ralph fans: instead of steering the world-class story spinner behind such all-ages gems as "Kid Astro" and "Old Red No. 7" in a clumsy corporate direction, the label elected to distill 16 of his best and brightest tracks from the six previous Ralph's World discs. Thus we're essentially treated to a greatest-hits package: "Surfin' in My Imagination," "At the Bottom of the Sea," "Sunny Day Rainy Day Anytime Band," and "The Coffee Song" all make the cut, and they're as zippy-joyful-plucky as ever. A few future classics--"We Are Ants" and "What Can You Do with Your Baby Brother"--are left off, but time won't rub the sheen off them; they'll just become something for new fans to eventually "discover." Because this wouldn't be a Disney disc without a bonus, Welcome also packs a multimedia one-two punch: six danceable, throw-your-hands-up videos dot disc two. --Tammy La Gorce More Ralph

My opinion isn't based on this disc, but I know all the songs from his previous releases. Ralph deserves his Disney break! I just hope he still does birthday parties now that he's big time! --2006-12-14 Ralphs's World is the creation of singer songwriter Ralph Covert. This album includes sixteen songs collected from the first six albums. Thank goodness, for my daughter, Sara Jacobs, who is within the target age of Ralph's World audience. She allows me to attend as many Ralph's World shows as possible. It would be virtually impossible for anyone not to be amused and entertained by this music. The videos that accompany this collection simply make this the must-buy album of the year. My recommendation is to see Ralph's World perform live as soon as you can. If current trends continue the band will be soon headlining Madison Square Garden. Once that happens, the shows will probably still be good, but how the heck would Ralph be able to invite all the kids up to the stage to join his band for 'Sunny Day Rainy Day Anytime Band'? --2006-10-06 This is a "best of" album, perfect for introducing Ralph to a wider national audience. We in Chicago have been Ralph fans for years, and we have a lot of these songs, but it's nice to have them in one collection - and my kids love the DVD of music videos! We can't wait to hear more!! Go Ralph!! --2006-10-05 If you are just getting to know the music of Ralph's World (Ralph Covert), perhaps through watching the videos on Playhouse Disney, then this cd/dvd combo is a MUST have. You will get the sense of quality and variety that those of us with all 6 previously released cds already know. Silly, thoughtful, danceable, singable....it's all here in Ralph's World. You'll want to know these songs when you go see them live! PLUS, we are treated to the delightful illustration of Jim Paillot worked into live action "concert" videos. What a bargain, at around ten dollars!
