    Customer Reviews:
  • you get what you pay for
Pro - cheap to buy, movie mode with sound
Cons - small in appearance but bulky. cheap plastic feeling.

Overall - after holding the camera for a few minutes, it feels cheaply made, and looks ugly, but what do you expect for under $100? It takes decent pictures, is sort of compact (but bulky), menu options are limited, scene modes are minimal. An annoying feature I found was trying to manually set the ISO setting. You press the Menu button, find the ISO setting, change it to 80, and hit the Menu button to exit (right?). Nope. After you set the ISO manually, you have to press the shutter button to lock in and save your ISO setting, not too intuitive. But then, when you turn the camera off and back on, its back to an Auto ISO setting. Apparently, your manual setting is only good for that picture moment.
It's a neat feature, being able to set the ISO manually but not too cool when it doesn't save it permanently.

Because of the cheapness, it went back to the store.

  • Great Camera!!!
I bought this camera when it came out with the free starter kit. It takes great pictures and is so easy to use. I didn't even have to read the instructions to figure everything out.

I started using it with the batteries it came with and they did need to be replaced rather quickly. My free starter kit came with the rechargeable batteries, so I have no problems with having to replace the batteries!

  • So far so good, but....
My only complaint about this camera is the battery life. I have had it for a week and already gone through 8 batteries. (it takes 2 AA)

I was also surprised that it didn't come with a media card, but was able to purchase a 1GB for $15. No case either.

The camera is great though. Great Videos, great quality photos and great price!

  • Lotta Bang for the Buck - But...
For the price and features there are very few other choices, if any, to consider at this time in history.

With that said, here are the Cons:

    No Eye-piece viewfinder.
    Hard on batteries.
Since the camera does not have a lense to look through, nor the ability to turn off the LCD screen, this causes this little gem to eat batteries with a passion.

No Zoom during the video record mode.
(at this point I am searching for more cons...hmmm.)

Okay.. no A/C Adapter feature available.
Not a big problem since, (and here's another small peeve) - there is only 16 MB of RAM internally, most of your data will be going to an SD Media Card. You can buy a good cheap USB multi-card reader for under $10.

Oh yeah- there is No Case and No Media card included.

Someone mentioned in another review that there is a specialized USB cable...this is not correct. The included USB cable is a common "micro-mini" type USB cable that the reviewer was not familiar with, though commonly found on many small gadget devices. I bet they have them at Big Lots.

Here are some nice things about this camera.

3X Optical Zoom - you won't find one for this price as of today's market. This feature alone was enough to make me decide to get this camera.

The camera, for its price range does remarkably well. At 4 MP resolution, the camera stores *.JPG file types that are usually around 1 MB each in size.

The Video feature really surprised me. You can do a pretty smooth 640x480 size video, which will eat 32 MB per minute. Set it to 320x240 size and one minute will eat up only 16 MB. The video files are saved as *.MOV Quicktime movie format. You would need to get a MOV2AVI or MOV2WMV file converting software to make it logical to email or post online. 16 MB is still a little large for one minute's worth in the email and web, but there is nothing wrong with the great quality of the MOV files recorded. In fact... I'm impressed again!

The onboard MIC is terrific! Very sensitive, but the camera is not noisy due to no moving parts. It recorded deep low tones as well as natural sounding highs.

It's nice and small, very inexpensive for a 4MP camera with 3X Zoom. (Digital zoom goes to 5x for a total of 15x zoom factor.) When the camera is turned off the telescoping lense returns to its flush position and a lense aperature cover closes protecting the lense. It also has some good setup and menu features.

It's easy to hold and throw in your pocket, controls are simple and all buttons are easy to get to, but better do something about that battery situation as well as get some of those very inexpensive SD Multi-Media Memory Cards. My 512 SD Mem card will hold 30 minutes of video or about 471 each - four megapixel photos. (Double that for 2MP res, and so on.) You could hold thousands of 1 MP shots on a nine dollar 512 MB card.

NOTE: Do not buy any device that uses SMART MEDIA memory cards. They are no longer made, and cost 36 cents per MB and have a max amount of 128MB - The SD Mulit-Media memory cards only cost 1.76 cents per MB - !!! I am pretty sure you could put a 2 GB card in this camera and get 1884 - 4 MB Photos or over 2 hours of video on just one card!

I don't think I would waste my time or money on the optional docking station. There is little need for it, if any at all.

If you are looking for a non-serious, good quality, easy-to-use inexpensive camera loaded with some unexpectedly good features... you found it! (We did the work for you.) The only reason it didn't get a Five-Star Rating is because it was not given to me and I had to buy it!

  • Wonderful Digital Camera
This camera comes with a punch when it comes to the features it comes with especially for the price tag that it has. The Digital Camera takes beautiful pictures and quality video. All the settings that the camera has are very simple to understand and figure out. Most Digital Camera's in this price range usually don't even come with an optical zoom, and this thing comes with that, I like that very much. For the price you really can't go wrong, you will be very satisfied when you buy this thing. If your going to buy this camera I recommend buying at least a 512 SD/MMC Memory card if you take alot of pictures and would like to record long length videos.

    PROS:
    Takes beautiful clear pictures
    Lots of Settings and features
Great Price tag for what your getting
Many accessories available (Printer Docking Station, Docking Station,Etc.)
For the price it comes with an optical zoom
Able to crop and edit photos directly from the camera
    Great battery life

    CONS:
When taking video you can only view it on the camera without sound, but when you upload it to your computer you can hear the sound with the video, but for what your getting it's really not a big deal.
