  • I find myself sneaking my son's DS away when he isn't using it to play this...
I grew up on Super Mario Bros... Super Mario Bros 2... Super Mario Bros 3... Super Mario World... Super Mario 64... and then for a while I quit playing Nintendo. It was the time of PS2 and XBox, and I have not played a Nintendo game in several years now.

I bought my youngest son a Nintendo DS not long ago - and this was one of the games I got him for it.

Unlike most nostalgic feelings - this has been a real treat to revisit this part of my childhood. My son was playing it, and asked me to get him past a certain part. I was immediately hooked and continued playing until I had beat several more levels. Since then I have been grabbing his DS at every opportunity and playing further along - and am about halfway through the game so far.

It is classic Mario - if you ever played any of the original games you'll know the score - however new music, some new moves (downward slams, wall jumping, etc.) as well as delightful moments such as getting the super big mushroom which makes Mario as tall as the screen - while you laugh like crazy and burst through everything - walls, blocks, enemies, etc. like King Kong on crack add a whole new depth to the game - and keep the 80's classic fresh in its newest form. If you grew up on the old games like I did - you will squeal with delight when you see a new enemy that was only in a select level or two from one of the older games - that brings the memories back fresh.

I am extremely pleased at how such a classic character can be brought back in a fresh new way - and invigorate this franchise which is still going strong after two, nearly three decades.

I had absolutely no interest in the Nintendo DS and only bought my son one because he had been really good this year. Now that I've tried out this game - I find myself browsing through Amazon for new DS games to try.

I wholeheartedly recommend this game for the DS... although I will warn you that you will find yourself wanting to feed your new addiction with more games for the system.

  • amazing addictive game.... by Alyssa T. (Virginia, USA)
    hi.
I share a DS with my brother (boo hoo) and this was the first game we got. We both love it. The game length is great, and so is the music. I LOVE the mini games.
My brother has the old mario game for nintendo 64, and we still play that sometimes.
Anybody would fall in love with this game, as it is addicting. Once I start playing, I can't stop until my brother snatches it out of my hands!
Great game for any age. I wonder waht Yoshi's Island 2 is like?????

  • An All Around GREAT Game!!
This verison of Super Mario Bros. is the best.
There are 3 different games you can play in this game.

    Game 1- Mario Game
This is the normal Adventure mode. You can save up to 3 games on one game card. You have to beat 8 different worlds to win the game. Each world has about 2 castles or sometimes more. In each level you can run through the level and beat it in a short amount of time and still beat the game, or you can collect 3 star coins which are hidden in each level.

    Game 2- Mario vs. Luigi
You can play a two player verison against some one else with a nintendo. This game is a lot of fun for everyone. You have to be the first person to get a certain amount of stars. This means you can try to steal your opponent's stars anyway you want.

The only down side of Mario vs. Luigi is that there are only 4 different levels you can play.

    Game 3- Minigames
In minigames you can play up to 4 people or play alone. The games include: Action games like Whack-a-mole; Puzzle Games like picking a certain person in a crowd; Table games which are card games like Poker; and a variety of more games like othello.

Over all this is a great game you need to add to you collection.

Also, for the Mario Game, if you want to be Luigi, you go to Select File and hold down L & R and press A.

  • A Player's Review
This game is extremly easy if you ever beat would 7. It the moment my record for beating Bowser is 14 times in a row. But, I wish you could play as other people (besides Luige). That would make the game more fun. The music is good, too. I still do not see why my mom hates it!

  • THIS CARTRIDGE IS LOADED

It's not just the same ol' same ol' Mario. There are A TON of mini games included in this little cartridge. They're all very entertaining. My first experience with NDS was in fact one of the mini games in this game, Wackamole, and I absolutely loved it.

Also the multiplayer features a type of game where you have to collect a set number of stars before your opponent. I play it every sunday with a little girl in my church and we both love it :)
