Pretty good buy

For the most part, I am satisfied with this product. I have also encountered the problem a previous reviewer had where the product gets stuck and won't flip over. It's kind of a pain to have to fix it every other time, especially when it's a poopy diaper that gets stuck. Poop smears all over and is such a pain to clean up.

<br />However, it's easy to use, handles the stink, and there are no expensives refills to purchase. The pros far outweigh the one con.
not all that great

We have used this for 8 months. Even with lysol, etc, there is still an odor. PLus, the one handed operation is not really possible...9 times out of 10 the handle jams as you try to flip it. We have also had diapers get trapped during the flip, even when folded compactly...this results in poop smears inside the flipping drum, where it is very hard to clean. I loved being able to use my own garbage bags as refills, but the sheer bulk and ugliness of this unit, coupled with odor and the jamming flip device, led me to buy a diaper dekor instead to replace it. Diaper dekor is MUCH better...even considerng the high cost of refills.
Ok for first few months

I bought the diaper champ when I was expecting my first child because I did not like the idea of having to buy refills and liked the one-handed operation. This is very helpful when holding a baby. It worked well for the first few months. I sanitized it with Lysol at every bag change (about once every 3 days) and cleaned it inside and out every 2 weeks. Then, when my daughter was about 5 months old, I started noticing the smell in her room. I tried soaking in bleach and more, but could not get the smell out. I realized that it was just getting worn - plastic rubbing down and allowing fumes to escape. The smell was not overwhelming, but not acceptable to me for my house. So, I moved it to just outside our back door. We still use it every day (she is now 10 months), it is just outside. It does not smell as you walk by since it is outdoors - not a closed bedroom. It worked well while she was young and needed changed in the middle of the night, etc. Now it is ok outside - still like the one-handed operation and no bags. Hopefully, they make some improvements before we have our next child.

Take it from a new mom who has learned from the mommy school of hard knocks- Diaper Champ is absolutely superior to the diaper genie! you can use regular trash bags; it is quick and easy to use and you save lots of $$$ by not buying the genie's special bags. It keeps the smell out too! Fantastic product!
Fantastic!

The diaper champ is fantastic! It is very easy to use and completely hides the smell of dirty diapers. Since it uses any bag, it is a huge cost saver! I would highly recommend this for any new mommy!
