  • A MasterPiece 2005-08-20 I am a fan of Xmen and this score fits the movie like a glove. I only listen to the Suite over and over and for the NightCrawler openeing scene music, its Mozart: Requiem and the title is Requiem in D Minor: III. I looked for it for about 3 days and finally found it. I reccomend 3 others soundtrack scores: Hulk, Red Dragon, and Beautiful Mind. All have about 2 tracks that can be listened to over and over again. Also Kill Bill 1. Can stop listening to White Lightning. Even my son Brahiem loves to listen to it. One extra tip, get Morpheus, and if you cant find the song you are looking for, get Limewire, but delete it as soon as you are done with it because it comes loaded with spyware.
Great Score! 2004-10-12 I was, as others will state, dissapointed with the first X-men score by the late Michael Kamen. Not that it wasn't good, it just lacked thematic material and use of it. It worked it the film wonderfully which is what I guess, was meant to do. Aside from the film, however it didn't work as well. That aside, the X2 score was wonderful. It workes both ways and has a wonderful powerful theme to it. Allot of the music reminded me of the two Star Trek scores that James Horner scored, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. I guess that makes since because the ending of X2 is similar to the end of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Also on the DVD for X2 John Ottman talkes about how he was trying to make the score sound similar to that of Star Trak II, so there you go. I say if you love epic scores, and you love the X-Men movies, buy this now. It's truly great!
awesome 2004-08-02 great score, one problem, WHY DIDNT THEY PUT THE SONG FROM NIGHTCRAWLERS ATTACK ON THE CD!!!!!! MAN
Splendid Score, What the first movie should have been 2003-12-03 AS great as the first X-Men movie was, one of the weakest points was its score by Michael Kamen. While Kamen has written some beautiful and excellent scores, his X-Men work just didn't fit the bill. A classic hero motif was underused and elctronic rattles and bangs paved the way of the score. In John Ottman's score for X2, the bangs and rattles have been reduced and a largely orchestrational score installed instead. Ottman's hero motiff is by far one of the best in the super-hero score community. It ranks right up with Williams' Superman fanfare as well as Elfman's Batman Theme. The biggest complaint I have for this score is that it is not in order. For me that is really annoying and does reduce what is in affect a great score. I really wish that amazon would give .5's instead of straight numbers. Overall, Ottman's score successfully captures the heroic qualities of the X-Men as well as the heroic sacrifice of Jean Grey and the traitorous decision of Pyro. Its an excellent score.
Great accompaniment to the DVD 2003-12-01 Though I am not an expert on soundtracks and producers of movie scores, I can say that this CD is a perfect accompaniment to the movie.

As you listen to this music, it is moving, emotional, and relaxing. You can feel the movie as you listen to the tracks, feel the suspense, the action, the calm suspenseful moments. Magneto escaping his prison, the battle between Wolverine and Yuriko, the beauty and the awe-inspiring moment of cerebro's power.

For me, "Playing with Fire" is the most emotional track. You can vision the scene where Pyro uses his powers, his first sign of rebellion. You can hear the suspense, drama, the emotional torment he has within, and the exact moment where he decides to do something.

This is a great CD to just listen to, whatever mood you're in.
