Considering how lame this sequel could have been, The Santa Clause 2 makes for a pleasant holiday diversion. It's got the familiar smell of Disney marketeering, and more than a few parents will object to this further embellishment of the St. Nick legend, but Tim Allen's amiable presence provides ample compensation. As a divorced dad who inherited the jolly man's job in The Santa Clause, Allen now faces another Yuletide challenge. According to the "Missus Clause" in his North Pole contract, he can't continue to be the real Santa until he gets married. As luck and five credited screenwriters would have it, Allen falls for the Scrooge-y principal (Elizabeth Mitchell) of his son's school, while a phony, power-hungry duplicate Santa wreaks havoc on the North Pole's overworked elves. It's all as sweet as spiced eggnog, with that warmed-over feel of a mandated sequel, but the Christmas spirit does prevail with the sound of sleigh bells and Allen's rosy-cheeked ho, ho, ho! --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:
not even worth 1 star I loved the first Santa Clause, so I was excited
to see this one. but it's so lame! it's like they decided at the last minute to hurry and make this in time for christmas.
the storyline is far from solid, the lines in this one that are supposed to be funny are just flat, and it really doesn't have the warm & cozy 'feel good' that the first one had. I don't think I'll be seeing #3, after how disappointing this one was. :( --2006-11-28he did it agin this and the first are classic this is some of tim allen best work yet and been i had a copy of ansta clause 3 at the house and when that comes out its worth buying 2. --2006-11-28The Second Mrs. Clause Fills the Bill. At Christmas, everyone needs the love and support from their families, as this movie showed so well. It was more about Jack Frost, the King of the Chill, than Santa outside the domestic situation. Jack, played skillfully by Martin Short, was a gay big phony with freeze-dried hair -- atyled like some young people wear theirs today. He was a manipulator, a jack of all trades, but mean and nasty as a conspirator to take North Pole away from Santa and his elves. Jack appeared to be happy as a lark, but he changed and turned into an ogre out to sabotage Christmas. When he was mad, his face turned blue.
Parts of the movie were like a dream but the Workshop was a place full of secrets. Santa worked miracles to clean up Jack's antics. Don't sweat the small stuff. Don't even think about it, Jack. Don't know who he is anymore. It's too late to make amends now. Jack was just a big imposter, but Santa got retribution. The problem seemed to be "Was it worth it?" No more secrets, Jack -- this isn't funny. A magical hug warms his heart and the spell is broken.
Ann Margaret looked just as she did twenty-five years ago. Spenser Breslin who played Curtis is turning into a star of major proportions. The big star, of course, was Tim Allen who was marvelous in this film as he was in the other two. The baby made a debut as the movie ended as it began. --2006-11-05Good Fun Not as great as the first but still entertaining for the whole family. --2006-11-04A Fun Sequel It's not as good as the first movie. But it is a fun diversion into American Christmas mythology. Tim Allen has warmed up to his role as Santa Claus, and he is regarded as one of the best Santas the North Pole has ever had.
But it is soon discovered that there is a Mrs. Clause: Santa has 28 days to get married, or he doesn't get to be Santa anymore.
In the meantime, one of the elves makes a toy Santa to watch over the workshop. But he rebels, and Tim Allen must return to reclaim the leadership of the North Pole and save the elves from the clutches of the evil toy Santa.
It's all in good fun and it will be a well watched holiday treat for years to come. --2006-11-03
