Customer Reviews:
47 out of 50 burnt OK The other 3 were duds. Impressed with this ratio, especially since it's 10 bucks a spindle.
A number of the discs have been sent around the world and used in presentations 20+ times. None have stopped working despite mild surface scratching.
There's not really much else to say about a spindle of CD's, to be fair. --2006-12-21Better quality CD-Rs are out there This is my experience: I was making a few CDs and noticing that many of the songs I recorded on them, particularly those at the end of the disc, skipped and popped a lot, basically rendering the whole CD worthless. After spending several hours rebooting my machine and checking all of the hardware to see what the problem was, I figured I'd try another brand of CD-Rs and eureka! I was able to churn out a bunch of CDs with no problems whatsoever.
It's a bit surprising that a brand name like this puts out such low-quality CD-Rs. I ended up throwing away at least half of these CD-Rs I tried to record before just pitching the entire spindle after I got this other brand.
So if you're having trouble burning CDs, check what kind of disc you are using first before wasting time checking to make sure your computer equipment is okay. --2006-12-21Good for backups, don't go back for ages I have to write about these disks because they are really good for backups. I have been using them since the day of x2 speeds back in the 20th century and they they have been storing data like champs. Few of the multitude of disk that I have written have been coasters.
I don't normally use them for music since they tend to scratch a little more than other disks, but if you are going to store your My Documents folder on them, these are a little more pricey than most, but you won't find a better type of disk for the price.
So long as you want a dedicated backup, these are they way to go. If you are going to use them as MP3 CDs I would look towards cheaper CDs.
For the record I use a ancient Yamaha CRW-F1E CD Burner or a Pioneer DVR-105 depending on my moods. At work they seem to work well with my HP Armada laptop.
--2006-12-16Plenty of better options I've been using Memorex CDRs for a while but my latest spindle of 100 has given me (more) grey hairs. I've gone through 30 in the spindle and may have gotten 5 good CDs out of the bunch. My first indication of a problem was when I inserted the very 1st CDR from the spindle into my PC and got the error message "This is an unformatted disc. Please format the disc before attempting to burn." It was all downhill from there. The burned CDs skip, stop, re-start and/or freeze in my CD players. Also, multiple listens to the same CD results in skips in different spots - sometimes track 1 is fine, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes you'll get all the way to track 4 before everything stops. This means you've got to listen to every CD in its' entirety to determine if it's defective or not. I've performed every test imaginable: 2 different burner programs, 4 different CD players & ultimately, CDRs from 2 different manufacturers and it's the CDs themselves. Sorry, Memorex, I can't recommend your product. --2006-12-13Inconsistent I have a pack of 50 the first few cds burned with no problem. I've tried about 10 since then and none have burned thus far... --2006-11-29
