A tiny bit dissapointed

Another reviewer said it was a little redundant coimng back to certain teams ...Ala,ND, Okla....... Actually I didn't think the series had that much about Okla, a litlle bit about Bud W. but other than that there's just a little bit of ref to OU.
Bewildering, as the winningest college Fb team of modern FB era , thats from WWII on as no other team has won as many games or the winning percentage to match OU. Winningest team of the 50's OU, winningest team of the 70's OU, winningest team of present decade 2000/05 again OU. 47,31,28 game winning streaks, 4 Hesiemn winner's 5 Outland winner's, 4 Butkus winner's. 6 NC's, 39 Conf Championships. Did you get any impression of that kind of success at OU from this series.. I doubt it. It's an oversight that for me distracts a bit from this documentary.
College Football History
2005-10-21
An extremely well done review of college football. It covered a period of my youth that not too many today remember, as well as up to date material, and long ago background history. I would have included some things omitted, but would not cut a bit of what was included. I enjoyed it very much.
Magnificent

The footage, the stories, the themes -- every component of this DVD set is fantastic. I learned a lot about the history of U.S. college football. The price is phenomenal, too. I once saw the set selling for $99.95. If you like college football, go for it.
I really liked this!

Rites of Autumn(History of Modern College Football)
2003-02-01
College Football is fast becoming America's newest pastime. There are always those who will argue baseball is better, but college football is always talked about from July through February with a childlike zeal. "Rites of Autumn" attempts to give a history of the coaches and players that shaped the sport into the NCAA and NFL we know today. The series is ten episodes narrated by Burt Reynolds and each one has themes similiar to a Ken Burns' documentary. The only holes in the show are the lack of information on teams other than Alabama, any Big Ten teams, Notre Dame, USC,Oklahoma, and Miami. There are many teams that really helped shape the sport that were totally looked over. Perhaps time did not permit, but this is a very entertaining view of sports history. Overall I would recommend anyone at least renting it or borrowing from a friend because if you love football...you will love "Rites of Autumn".
