Can't Sleep

Save your money and try another monitor. I have had this monitor since the birth of my child in 2004. It worked fine (not great) for almost a year. Then the out of range alarm beeps all times even if I was in the next room. I tried changing the channels several times and nothing works. It drives me crazy the speaker makes a clicking sound along with the beeping of the out of range indicator. I am in the process of looking for another monitor before I loose my mind. I read that The First Years Safe & Sound 3808, The First Years Crisp & Clear Plus 3813B and Evenflo Constant Care 3000 rated really well by Consumers.
Better than the rest

This is an excellent baby monitor. Others we tried had static in the background nonstop - very annoying. This monitor has a clever setting that basically keeps the system silent until a discernable noise or voice is heard and then it tunes in instantly. No need to pay extra for 27 channels, 9 are plenty and recharable AA batteries are a great match for this unit. Overall, outstanding product from Sony.

If there's one thing a parent of an infant does not want, it's to be woken up by your monitor beeping when your baby is peacefully sleeping. Our baby was in the next room, and the "out of range" alarm" went off three nights in a row, like an alarm clock, between 4-5 am. Other nights it didn't do it, but even one night of getting woken up w/o cause was enough to make me want to throw this out of the window. Luckily, my husband reminded me that if I did that, I couldn't return it... I would never recommend this monitor because of the ridiculous beeping.

We bought this monitor for our newborns. It works great! There is never any static and the sound quailty is crystal clear. We bought the Fisher Price Lights and Sounds monitor prior to this one and it was full of static and different converstations from people in the neighborhood. I recommend the Sony monitor to anyone.

This is by far the worst monitor I have ever had. The out of range alarm beeps at all times even if you are in the room next door. It's very annoying. I called Sony Customer Service to see if they could send the instructions to the monitor to see if I could do something to stop the beeping. I was informed that they would be happy to send it to me for a charge of $5. I explained to the rep that the monitor came without any type of instructions. The rep told me to go back to the store and return it. My receipt was expired already and I couldn't return it. I was then told that the instructions were available online. I tried reading them but the print is so fine, it's basically impossible. I tried printing it out and again the print was so fine that it was impossible to read. I called Sony back to see if they could help and the rep tried to pull up the instructions herself and told me 'Bear with me - the format of the instructions make it very hard to read'. Even them could barely read it!!!!
Needless to say, my monitor continues to beep and beep. My daughter is beginning to sleep through the night, but I still wake up to my nice beeping monitor. I will be buying another one to replace this. Don't waste your money!!!
