  • Great conversion from Amiga 2005-04-08 If you are looking for a fun WW1 aircraft simulator, this should keep you hooked for a while.

The original on the Amiga is very well carried over to the GBA. A number of improvements also - much better bombing and strafing missions which are harder and more controlable. The majority of the missions will be flying (the best type) and you can toggle views (thankfully) so you are not constricted by the default behind cockpit view. You can chose an allied or German campaign to play which is also a nice new feature.

Yes there could have been weather and lighting changes (but to be honest, it would make viewing the screen harder than it already is for this game)

A really good smooth flowing game keeping you interested in the ever developing (true) storyline.

Get hold of a copy of this great dogfighting/WW1 simulator.
Wings is one of the best games ever!!! 2003-03-17 I've gotten into the Amiga version of this game like no other. I even bought the 1927 movie. Everyone who likes dogfighting should get this game!
My favorite dogfight sim ever... 2003-03-14 This was perhaps my favorite game on the Commodore Amiga. Its awesome on the GBA but I see a few minor flaws. One of my favorite things on the Amiga version was the different tunes that changed after each mission as you read the squadron journal. Also, the lighting condition doesn't seem to change. For example, in the Amiga version you had to patrol during different times of the day such as dawn or dusk. Another thing is that this version is difficult as its very easy to collide with another plane and get shot down. Some pilots even seem like they're trying to ram into you. The plane's control in strafing mode is very difficult unlike the Amiga version. I usually fail. Bombing mode is improved and awesome. Another improvement they've made is the option to play as the allies or the Germans. Please Cinemaware/Metro 3d make a Playstation 2 version of this game. Perhaps it could be made even more detailed with weather conditions and the choosing of different planes a la Red Baron for PC. I'd also like to see the classic missions back with the original tunes that I still remember vividly after 13 years!!
Wings 2003-03-13 Its not the same missions as the original on the Amiga but its still alot of fun. And the enemy pilots are alot smarter too. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes aerial dogfighting games. One more thing u can choose which side you want to fight on, Allies or Germans!
Lets hope its as good a the amiga version 2002-10-12 Ahh the nostalgia -- I've been checking [web address] etc.. for the last couple of months for this game. It seems like I've only a couple more days to wait.

It will be interesting to see how the game has changed eg the multiplayer dogfights, different weather conditions , much better graphics etc. Unfortunatley looks like I'll as ever have to play it directly under my reading light in my reading chair. However saying that i;m delighted to see someone has had the sense to remake this classic game, it will definetly be on my shopping list when it comes out - I just have to persuade someone to buy another copy so I can check out the multi-player.

Also - some of you might be interested to see that cinemare are realeasing a "digitally remastered" (where have I heard that term before Mr Lucas) collectors addition of the old amiga game. I wonder will it be much like the GBA title or just improvement on the amiga version. who knows, check out that also at the cinemaware website.. thats another possible buy for me (I really am a slave to old amiga games :) )

Anyway from the screenshots and movies I've seem I'd recommend it.Hopefully Crawfish/Metro 3d/Cinemaware you wont let me down.
