Tidus is a star athlete who survives a massive disaster, and with the help of a girl named Yuna, he journeys to temples & monasteries to find truth.Learn to summon aeons-old spirits of power to add to your fighting abilities as you battle the evils of SinSpectacular graphics and incredible voiceover work will immerse you in a new world where evil forces threaten the existence of all you know!
Each installment of the Final Fantasy series has featured strong storytelling, characterization, and strategic combat, fun minigames, and hours upon hours of captivating gameplay. The 10th title in the series is no exception. This is the first time a Final Fantasy game has appeared on the PlayStation2, and it takes full advantage of the increased technical capabilities. The story this time concerns Tidus, a blond-haired star of a sport called Blitzball. While he is playing in a match, Tidus's city is attacked by an evil force called Sin, and everything is destroyed save Tidus and his guardian Auran. The adventure begins as the pair are somehow transported to another world. From here on, it's standard Final Fantasy gameplay: fight battles, manage experience points, learn new powers, and recruit a motley crew of nonplayer characters to join your quest. The graphics, however, take things to a new level. They are amazing not only for their realism, but also for their imaginative art design. The world these heroes inhabit is breathtakingly beautiful, flowing, and full of inventive surprises. You haven't lived until you've surfed cables high in the air, or ridden a graceful airship through the clouds. The stunning effects are on display when you use magic in combat, summon gigantic monsters, and use fire columns to devastate your foes. One new element is voice acting. The innovation yields predictably mixed results: it's wonderful to hear spoken dialogue rather than read subtitles, but as with most games translated from Japanese, the acting is mediocre and sometimes unintentionally hilarious. Still, the game's new graphics engine and solid gameplay are sure to please fans of the series waiting to see what Square has in store for them. While Final Fantasy X doesn't offer much innovation, it also doesn't disappoint. And fortunately, with Final Fantasy XI already in development, the title is still a misnomer. --Andrew S. Bub Pros: - Gorgeous graphics
- Epic story line
- Voice acting
Cons: - Little innovation
- The voice acting is sometimes laughable
Final Fantasy X is the first title in this landmark RPG series to be released for the PlayStation2. The main characters are Tidus, a star of blitzball (a hugely popular sport in the Final Fantasy universe), and Yuna, who has learned the art of summoning and controlling aeons, powerful spirits of yore. These two people of different backgrounds must work together as they journey through the world of Spira. This installment of Final Fantasy has a distinctly Asian influence, bringing a fresh feel to the characters, music, settings, and story. Features include voice-overs for the first time in the series (utilizing the Facial Motion System), high-polygon, motion-captured player characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura, and a camera that automatically adjusts its perspective to correspond with the movements of the characters--a feature now possible because the game is largely polygonal. Final Fantasy X takes you into the world of Zamarkand, where you must face down the dark force called Sin to save the world!

Customer Reviews:
Amazing.... I know I'm a little late, but what the heck? I felt like writing a review for this game. Final Fantasy X is just a fantastic game. Simple as that. Its extremely deep, has a fantastic story, great characters, great battle system, and it's the perfect length for a RPG (45-55 hours). Not everyone likes Tidus, be he honestly doesn't bother me, and I think he is a interesting character. The rest of the cast is well developed, and they all have interesting personalities that are distinct to this universe. The cast is very memorable, you'll remember them for years to come, and I think that speaks volumes as to how good this game is. Its enhanced by the usual good voice acting that Square is known for, so that doesn't disapoint.
The gameplay is extremely fun, and its actually one of my favorite battle systems. The battle system can make or break a RPG, and this one doesn't disappoint. Its fast paced, so it doesn't get bogged down by long battles. You can also swap characters mid battle, thats a awesome feature. The gameplay is also incredibly deep, I've heard of people literally pouring hundreds of hours into this game. So if thats your thing, I'm sure you've probably already played this game. If for some reason you have not played this game and your into RPG's, don't hesitate to pick this game up, its cheap now, and its one of the best and most balanced RPG's I've ever played. --2006-11-18... Well overall, this game is pretty good, i like the story line, but it can be confusing at times. As for the graphics, they are mediocre, but during some important cutsenes they are worthy of the Xbox 360.
Pros:
The leveling up system-A sphere grid in which easly obtainable levels are used to move through the grid, which has bonuses such as Hp + 200. however it is sometimes hard to obtain spheres used to Activate the bonuses on the grid.
Voices: As the first FF game to have voices it does pretty good.
Cutscene graphics:Only during important events, other cutscenes are shakey. (litterly shakey the screne moves up and down when it zooms up on a charecter's head)
Storyline:Pretty good, but rapidly changes the setting, sometimes hard to follow.
Cons:
Battle system: It is pretty much your boring, turn taking battle system. Another con is you can only have 3 people battling at a time.
Graphics: Mediocre
Can be frustrating: There are some bosses in the game that are almost impossible to beat

Overall, 4 stars, a good game, but you don't NEED to have it. --2006-11-06A New Standard in Console RPGs Without a Doubt, FFX is one of the best, if not the best, rpgs to come out on any of the current consoles. It features an incredible and orignal story populated with interesting and varied characters. Additionally, the sphere-gird system allows the player to develop character abilites in an interesting and innovative manner. Admittedly, the sphere-grid system complexilty may scare away rpg newbies, but with a little time will become second nature to players of all skill levels. Featuring a wonderful score (even by Final Fantasy standards)and impressive graphics (for the PS2) there is little reason for any video game fan not to pick up this title, even with the ever-present advent of FF 12 on the horizon. --2006-10-29Not great.. not horrible.. just eh.. I waited a long time to buy this game because my brother told me not to waste my money. I'm glad I listened to him. This game was pretty much a bad graphic movie. I would say that the game is 60% short little movies with bad graphics, 10% beautiful graphic movies, and 30% actual game play. I was so frustrated when all I wanted to do was level up, or explore and instead I had to sit there and watch a dumb movie. The main character, Tidus, was so unrealistic as a hero and Yuna, the main female character, said "yes" as her only dialogue about 100 times! Oh my god, they would have a whole movie scene just to have her say yes!! Also, there were long pauses in between speeches... it was really annoying. The game itself was ok. By the end, the bad guy was really easy... i thought he would be more of a challenge. All in all, this game is only average. The story line could have been more thought out, and instead of a twist, it was more like a confusing reality. But an even worse game is FF X-2... Stay away from that one at all cost! The one thing I really loved about this game was the sphere system for gaining skills and abilities. I wish that could be the main way from now on. Looks like FF VII is still my fav FF game. --2006-09-27Beautiful Graphics And Deep Gameplay There is so much to see and discover in this game. It took me over 70 hours just to complete the walkthrough and I am still working on capturing all the monsters for the Monster Arena. Someone who wanted to complete all side quests, find all special items, etc. could easily spend more than 100 hours on this game and never get bored -just incredibly deep gameplay. The graphics are also outstanding, among the best I have seen in a video game. It took me awhile to get used to the Sphere Grid used to increase your characters' stats. At first I didn't find it as satisfying as the typical method of "leveling up". But eventually I began to enjoy it and it's now one of my favorite aspects of the game. The only thing I found tiresome was how long the cutscenes were. The storyline itself was quite good. But I wish it was told with shorter cutscenes or at least gave players the option to skip through the cutscenes. Still this is a minor complaint to an otherwise excellent game. Definitely worth buying! --2006-09-23
