  • Another great Missy tale 2005-10-14 I enjoyed reading these further adventures of Dar and Kerry. Missy writes a believable story set in modern day Miami. One of the things that keeps us coming back to these stories (Tropical Storm, Hurricane Watch, Eye of the Storm, Thicker than Water, Terrors of the High Seas) is simple theme of soulmates meeting set amongst the techie background.
Too many errors 2004-07-02 The plot is pretty good, but the little errors scattered throughout distracted from the book. (A 30-year old would not be a Captain in the Naval Surface WArfare community. Navy Chiefs are not officers. The rank of "major" doesn't exist in the Navy.) A little bit of research would have made this book a lot better.
Can't stand on laurals 2003-07-19 Obviously attempting to stand on previous publications, Miss Good has a flop with this drivel. Her characters of Dar and Kerry compliment each other, but Dar is just overplayed in this slow moving, computer language drivel. You can't stand on previous laurals Missy so concentrate on better writing if you want me to buy anymore of your books.
Surprising Disappointment! 2003-07-07 I've been a fan of Melissa Good's work, especially the Dar and Kerry series, for a long time now. I own all the prior books in the series and I absolutely LOVE them! I reread them frequently and even though I know what's coming, Ms. Good's undeniable gift from the Muses manages to pull me in so that I feel like I am reading the stories for the first time.

With that said, I must admit that I am very disappointed in this next installment in the DaK series. The combination of military jargon and complex computer scenarios make this novel kind of boring for an average civilian who is no computer geek like Dar Roberts. Aside from that, I was most disappointed in the characters this time around. I mean, just how many different ways can you make Dar Roberts out to be this super-human person who is too good to interact with the people around her? I feel like this novel captured them all. Yuck! I couldn't even finish the book! Who wants to read hundreds of pages about a person like that?

I would suggest skimming the online version of this story for the Dar and Kerry parts. Those are always so beautiful. Otherwise, this book is not a necessary investment.

Good Effort but better online 2002-12-07 Being a huge fan of the DaKverse, I have been waiting for this book to be released. When I finally read the print version, I was happy overall, but a little disappointed. The writing seems to have changed since the online version and was a little stale in places. Some of the plot was easy to figure out and contrived. I also wish they had kept the story as one book rather than separating it into two. The story is good, but not as a stand alone.
